Common questions from jewelry teams.
Short answers for buyers, operators, CAD teams, and Shopify developers evaluating Ring Facet.
What are Ring Facet's two main products?
Ring Builder is the storefront 3D ring configurator. Jewel Shots is the product-rendering studio for images, videos, and embeddable 3D model viewers.
Do I need Shopify?
No. Ring Builder has a Shopify-native app path and a headless embed path. Shopify is the fastest setup for most jewelry stores. Shopify · WooCommerce
Do you provide diamond inventory?
No. Ring Facet never carries, owns or resells stones, so your supplier relationships, trade pricing and margin stay entirely yours. Selling your own inventory through the builder is live today — upload your stone list as a CSV, set your markup bands, and shoppers set a specific certificated diamond into the ring they configure, priced from that stone. Direct supplier API connections, where inventory refreshes itself rather than being uploaded, are still being built. Where feeds stand
What file types does Jewel Shots support?
Jewel Shots supports 3DM, OBJ, and GLB uploads, then exports product-ready PNG/JPEG images, videos, and embed snippets.
Can the Ring Builder use our own CAD designs?
Yes on custom implementations and Scale plans. The standard library covers common bridal components, while custom CAD work brings your own heads, shanks, and signature styles into the builder. Custom CAD
How is pricing structured?
Ring Builder has Studio and Scale plans. Jewel Shots has Free, Starter, and Pro plans. Bundles are available when a team uses both products.
Where should I start?
Try the live demo, read the quickstart, then book a demo if you want a sandbox seeded with your own collection or feed.
How realistic is the 3D rendering?
Each diamond is ray-traced against the actual facet geometry in the model rather than faked with a reflection map. Across the shipping catalogue of 39 models and 364 stones, 95 percent render that way. How the renderer works
Can a shopper change the price before checkout?
No. The browser sends selections, never money. On Shopify a cart function recomputes the line price inside Shopify, and on WooCommerce the price is recomputed server-side, so the charged total always matches your pricing rules. Shopify · WooCommerce
What can a shopper actually configure?
Shoppers can choose enabled diamond shapes, compatible settings and bands, metals, finishes, diamond origin, carat weight, grades, ring size, coloured centre stones and optional engraving. Inventory mode lets them select a specific stock diamond. Every feature, listed
How do I set up a configurator?
Follow Builder → Diamond Feed → Pricing → Theme → Publish. Choose offered options, configure diamond methods and shared ring prices, then set your domain and quote or cart flow. Save and test on your storefront. Read the guide
Can I match the ring builder to my brand colors?
Yes. The Theme step sets four colours: the embed background, the background the 3D ring is rendered against, the options panel, and the buttons. Each takes a value from a colour picker, a hex box or R/G/B boxes, and nine presets are built in. Text, borders and card surfaces are worked out from your four colours rather than being set separately. Read the guide
Will a dark theme make the builder hard to read?
No. Ring Facet picks the text colour for each surface itself, taking whichever of near-black or white has the better measured contrast against the background you chose, then adjusts the derived card and inset surfaces until they clear the WCAG AA ratio for body text. A dark options panel gets light type automatically. Read the guide
Does the 3D ring have to sit on a grey background?
No. The ring is rendered with a transparent background, so whatever you set as the 3D ring background shows behind it. The tiles behind the diamond shape and setting thumbnails stay light on purpose, because those images are drawn for a light plate. Read the guide
Do theme colors apply to the Shopify theme block?
The button colour does. The three background colours do not, because the Shopify theme block has no options panel of its own by design — it renders onto your theme's background so it inherits your store's styling. Everywhere the embed snippet is used, including WooCommerce and shared design links, all four colours apply. Read the guide · Shopify
Are theme colors shared between configurators?
No. Colours are saved per configurator, so if you run more than one builder each carries its own theme and changing one leaves the others alone. Read the guide
Are prices shared between configurators?
Yes. Workspace pricing applies across configurators, while named configurators can offer different options and defaults. Test affected collections after changing shared prices. Read the guide
Can each setting have a different price in each metal?
Yes. In Pricing choose Each setting has its own price per metal. Review the setting and band tables and any conversion notice before saving. Read the guide
Can Lab Grown and Natural use different prices?
Yes. Their separate tabs hold independent diamond methods, weights, prices, grade adjustments, centre colours and quote limits. Configure Natural first, then enable it in Builder. Read the guide
What is the difference between full diamond prices and rates per carat?
A full price is the amount for the selected diamond weight or shape-and-weight cell. A per-carat shape rate is multiplied by the selected carat weight. Colour and grade adjustments are configured separately. Read the guide
Does uploading inventory activate it automatically?
No. Upload CSV or TSV in Diamond Feed, review mappings and markup, then select From my diamond feed in the relevant origin’s Pricing tab and save. Read the guide
Do CSV uploads refresh automatically from my supplier?
No. Merchant-uploaded inventory is supported; upload a fresh list when it changes. Direct supplier API connections are still in development. Read the guide
Can I paste prices from a spreadsheet?
Yes. Paste a numeric block into an existing setting, band or diamond table cell. Values fill right and down. Blank and non-numeric cells are skipped, so blank pasted cells do not erase existing prices. Read the guide
Does a blank diamond price mean zero?

Can I sell some rings online and quote others?
